Favorite songs? It is really hard to narrow it down to just one or two. Almost impossible. Bridge Over Troubled Waters & Nights in White Satin are great & are on my favorites list, but I think that "Cherish" by The Association has had the biggest effect on my life. First of all, it was a local group, from the San Fernando Valley, in Los Angeles, California. It was my first girlfriend & my song. We went to hear them play a concert at her High School. I remember singing the words to the song over & over; expressing the love for the girl in the song. As usually happens, we later broke up & I moved on with my life. I married & divorced and then married again....which is another strange story, in itself. Anyway, I talking to my second wife about her childhood, & she recalled the story about one of her neighbors. She was in her early teens & he was much older. He had a crush on her but couldn't do anything about it because of the age difference. So, being a musician, he wrote a song for/about her. He was a member of a group called The Association & called his song "Cherish". I ended up marrying the girl that the song was written for.
I have never believed in coinsidence.

"Love will keep us Alive" by the Eagles, it has a special significance for me , and if you listen to the words I'm sure you will relate to them at some point in your lives.

at the moment, my favourite songs are sarah mc loughlan-angel and bette midler-wind beneathe my wings. this is because i lost my mum recently and i had those songs played at her funeral. they remind me so much of her. she battled cancer for 3 years and was so brave right up until the end. i held her hand as she died. i miss her so very much and sometimes ache so much just to talk to her for a minute. but i no she is with the angels and looking down on me.

I absolutely love music!
It's about the only thing i can actually "lose myself in" if you get what i mean!
So many fab songs i love!
But my most fave song i love is:
Fire & Rain by James Taylor
Not only do i love the words & what its about! But holds a special memory for me as River Phoenix was singing and dancing to this song in one of his movies ;D

songs played at funerals are difficult ones afterwards, i have found. i had "eternal flame" at hubby's funeral, and just about everybody in the family STILL cant listen to it now (6 and a half years later!). my daughter, in particular, will still run to the radio to switch it off. songs can be really emotive, cant they? but thankfully for lots of happy reasons too mj xx p.s. i must look for my james taylor cd!

I did say this to my hubby! I understand he wants to play them to keep her memory alive etc...but i have told him i find it hard to hear these songs! I've never listended to i will always love you since my aunts funeral, ive walked out of shops, turned radios off etc just to avoid it! Music is beautiful & im the first to admit it! But theres just some songs i cant bare to hear! As for my Fire & rain, it reminds me of River & i like to keep that wee memory to myself Xx

there are so many to chose from, but probably one of my all time fav songs is "catch the wind" by Donovan, its so beautiful. Another of my faves is "something" by the beatles and "you gave me a mountain" by Elvis.
