To me a spiritual person is someone who is connected to another plane. Someone who is linked with Spirit, God, Angels etc. Energies that surround that others dont notice because they are not connected.
Well thats what I think anyhow. Im curious, what would you mean?? xxx

i would mean someone who believes in anything "higher" than themselves, much as you, lucy. whether that is God, the Angels or something else. i was curious as to what others thought (and still am), as i think it means a lot of different things to different people. if you look at some profile/form questionnaires, for instance, they ask if you are religious OR spiritual. does that mean that some people consider that you cannot be both? i hope that this thread gets some interesting opinions mj xx

Yes I agree with what you say. I dont quite understand that and think about it a lot.
I think of myself as a spiritual person but my religion is catholic. And I know people who consider themselves of a spiritual religion (spiritualists)who do not believe in angels, healing, phsychic etc etc. I do not consider myself a spiritualist rather a spiritual person. I think thats where the difference lies but what exactly that difference is, Im not sure.
An excelent topic to bring up as maybe now I will finally get my answers. xxxx

Spiritual or Religious? Good question.
I tend to see someone that is religious as someone that practices a traditional religion such as Catholic, Baptist, Methodist, etc.
Someone that is Spiritual is someone that is in touch with God, Spirit, the Universe Power, or any other name you wish to attach to it; without needing a structured group, dogma, or customs. When you talk directly with Spirit, there is no need for traditional formalities.

That is a nice easy way of explaining it.
Sorta what I was trying to say but not as good as that.

I think spirituality is someone who belives in the higher plane, universal intelligence, god, etc...what ever name you want to put to it... but does not belive in following certain practices, rituals, or faiths, to feel accepted, or whatever, by this god. Religion, whichever one, unfortuneatly tells us that if you dont follow in the right way you will not be accepted.
God..who you could never define... would never, ever, judge anyone.
We are here to realise that Love is actually the only way! Love and light xxx

Its something that I have thought about alot... Everyone has a uniqueness about them but when u consider a huge populated world of people...how many are spiritually in tuned? I mean spirituality to me can be to varying degrees and have different meaning to the individual. Up until recent years Ive found an inner peace that has somewhat changed my view of life. I do believe things happen for a reason and we cannot change what is destined to happen...however it can leave one with questions 'WHY'....the thing is we may never know the answer. Learning to understand makes all the difference. Love, Light, an energy, peace, tranquility, blessing, a higher being what ever we describe...the meaning must be the same? Life is a journey to me...and its things we experience can make a significant change to ones view...on how they see things. People intrigue me...and thru one traumatic experience in my life i have become what I would call spiritually in tuned with people. I see things differently and cant help but analyze the way people are through their behavior... Soul - to make a connection Body - respect Mind - inner thoughts I am inspired by people....they all tell a story and therefore my feelings and thoughts are created and expressed thru written words. We all know the saying life is too short...well life to me is what we make of it. It is a blessing to live a life and be thankful for what one has...because there are always others who are worse off than yourself. For every moment that passes is a moment we can never get back. Thanks Mary...I will post a poem on here but Im not sure where to put it. Should I make a new thread? take care

Don't think i can really add anything different to what has already been so lovely explained by all of you, but i'll try.
I think the reason why it is usually Religion or Spiritual is because a Religion you follow a set group path with a set of dogmas you follow in hope to be closer to God,,,,,,,,,,,, whereas being Spiritual i think you are in tune with the energy around you and within you aswell as God, Goddess, Angels, Saints, Fairies, animals, plants earth Auras etc, Spirituality has many paths and as my good friend Delta says the paths you can choose are endless because you are continually learning and growing, I'm Catholic, my friend is Wiccan others could be Buddhist, Hindus whatever, they can be both Religious and Spiritual,,,,,,,, but they don't necessarily go hand in hand.

Spiritual literally means being of the spirit. At one with spirit.

I believe that anyone can believe in anything they want! I'm a very spiritual person and i believe in universal religion x i believe a little piece of each religion and all religions deep down mean the same x You should take what you believe put your own stamp on it, instead of belonging to a certain group or theory x you have to have faith in yourself first before you can have faith in anything else x
love is life
